170,000 Job Opportunities Await Filipinos at Nationwide Labor Day Fairs — DOLE

Around 170,000 local and overseas jobs will be up for grabs during the Labor Day job fairs happening across at least 70 locations nationwide, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) announced Sunday.

Labor Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma said the job fairs will involve about 2,000 employers and are being organized in collaboration with various mall operators.

“This number could still increase, as we have three more days left before Labor Day celebrations,” Laguesma said in an interview on GMA Super Radyo DZBB.

He encouraged both unemployed and employed Filipinos to participate, noting that they might find better opportunities offering higher positions or improved benefits.

Recent job fairs have already led to notable on-the-spot hires, including around 100 hires in Malolos, Bulacan, 128 in Dagupan, and 170 in Pampanga last Friday.

As per the latest data from the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), the country recorded 1.94 million unemployed Filipinos aged 15 and above as of February 2025. Although this is higher than February 2024’s 1.80 million, it marks an improvement from the 2.16 million unemployed reported in January.

Meanwhile, 49.15 million Filipinos were employed in February, resulting in an employment rate of 96.2%. Of these, 4.86 million were considered underemployed, seeking either additional hours or better job opportunities.
