Rakuten Viber is set to launch Viber Pay, its integrated digital wallet, in the Philippines in the second half of 2025, with over 1 million Filipinos already signed up on the waitlist.
Goal: Reduce the hassle of switching between messaging apps and payment platforms.
How It Works: Users can send and receive money directly inside the Viber app.
Current Status: Awaiting government approval and securing operational licenses with local partners.
“Users don’t like friction. With Viber Pay, we’re combining messaging and payments into one seamless experience,” said Viber CEO Ofir Eyal at a media briefing in Bonifacio Global City.
