Mayor Francis Zamora and The San Juan City government led the opening of a new quarantine facility that was built using repurposed shipping containers today, April 30, 2021. It will accommodate mild and asymptomatic COVID-19 patients.
Previously, the city had been using three quarantine facilities: one in San Juan Medical Center with 75 beds, one in Kalinga Center with 139 beds, and one in San Juan National High School Annex Basketball Court with 36 beds. The new facility has 52 beds and increases the city’s total quarantine bed capacity from 250 to 302.
The new quarantine facility is located in P. Guevarra Extension and was constructed by the Department of Public Works and Highways.
As of April 29, San Juan City has recorded 702 active COVID-19 cases.
