On Monday, Globe Telecom Inc. reported that its 5G connectivity now covers around 88% of the National Capital Region (NCR). The telco’s continued aggressive expansion and innovation is geared at improving the services it provides for its customers.
Bonifacio Global City Central Business District (CBD) and Ortigas CBD both have the highest registered coverage of Globe’s 5G outdoor capabilities at 97%. Makati CBD ranks third at 96% coverage and Pateros follows at 92% coverage.
The 5G network of Globe is considered to be the most available for consumers on 5G-capable devices according to Ookla Speedtest Intelligence data. Its services and capabilities are accessible in various cities across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
“We expect more installations of 5G cell sites for the remaining six months of the year as the demand for 5G technology will continue to rise even further,” explained Globe CEO Issa Guevarra-Cabreira.
“We are happy that more customers are now adopting 5G technology so they can experience its advantages and benefits, especially in this pandemic” she added.
Being the latest wireless connectivity technology, 5G promises to deliver faster speeds, higher bandwidth, and more stable internet connections in comparison to 4G.
In the Philippines — and even in Southeast Asia —, Globe is considered to be the pioneer of 5G technology as the first mobile operator to commercially launch 5G AirFiber for Home use in 2019.
