Kirsten Villamor began Solasta as a passion project. “I would buy jewelry during bazaars but I saw how hard it was to buy stainless jewelry or jewelry that is unique.”
However, Solasta was not Kirsten’s first stint at a business venture. “My first few business ventures were not successful. I tried selling temporary tattoos, makeup, iPhone cases, and clothes which were meh.”
Kirsten was determined to push for a business because she felt like having a desk job was not for her. Then, she thought of her love for jewelry which she wanted to share with the world.
“Parang before most that I could find were hoops, tassel earrings or plain studs which are also not shower-proof pa kaya it gave me an idea to try to look for suppliers who can give both unique and quality jewelry!” she shares.
While in Bali, she was looking for words on Pinterest when she came across the term “Solasta”
“I instantly fell in love with the name. It means “Luminous and Shining”. This was on par with her products and decided to use the name.
When it came to her new business, Kirsten’s first challenge was “how to operate an e-commerce type of business. Since it was not thought in school, I had to research how to get orders, the mode of payments, and logistics.”
She feels that one of the most difficult parts of creating your start-up is looking for a way to differentiate your brand from others to catch customer attention.
“Ads were not a thing back then so we really relied on influencer marketing. We were lucky that time because I think konti pa lang yung mga online businesses so I got to contact a lot of creators to promote our products!”
Despite the challenges that Kirsten faced with Solasta, she counts being able to meet new people and spoiling her customers as the best part of owning her own business.
“It’s really an amazing feeling when you get to talk to your customers and we get to spoil them (especially our loyal customers) by giving them freebies! I personally pack the orders and when I recall or see a name familiar, I would add freebies and a cute little greeting just to make them feel na I remember them! 🙂 It’s also very fulfilling to see repeat customers so spoiling them is just our little way of saying thank you and we appreciate them!”
Kisten emphasizes that Solasta makes it a point to offer unique and affordable pieces while giving customers a great experience when ordering.
“Main goal of Solasta is to make our customers happy and confident! Our line is #SparkleWithSolasta.” she shares.
