The consumer protection unit of the Department of Trade and Industry-Central Visayas (DTI-7) had cautioned lechon business owners to deliver their obligations and fulfill the quality and size as agreed upon to keep away from complaints this holiday season.
Division Chief of DTI-7’s Consumer Protection Desk, Joy F. Suralta has mentioned that it remains an obligation for lechon or roasted pic traders to deliver during the promised time so as to steer clear of customer rants or bad reviews online.
Suralta emphasized that social media can be a medium to market products, particularly during the holiday season where this can be used as a platform where customers can vent out frustrations over unhappy experiences with services or products.
“We advise lechon traders to deliver as promised or as agreed with their customers, especially on quality and delivery time. It is their means of gaining loyal and repeat customers. Also, customers’ reviews are valuable for the sustainability of any business, word of mouth and now postings on social media are so powerful marketing tools,” said Suralta.
“To the buying public, please, when you buy something always ask for a receipt with the specs (specifications) of the product duly indicated. It is your evidence of buying the product from that specific seller. In case of defect/s, the receipt becomes a piece of evidence, with the photos of the product when you file a complaint to the concerned government agency,” she adds.
The DTI-7 officials likewise told customers to verbally communicate their frustration to sellers first to give them a change to rectify the issue while reminding sellers that “sellers should handle it (the complaint) well.”
