PopBox, the country’s first smart locker system in public transport, was launched in Light Rail Transit (LRT)-1 stations as a pick-up point for packages last February 16.
The railway’s private operator, Light Rail Manila Corporation (LRMC), and the Airspeed Group of Companies have officially launched PoPBox at all LRT-1 stations for a “truly world-class” customer experience.
PopBox was the first courier-agnostic solution for smart lockers operating for over five years in 350 locations in Indonesia and Malaysia.
With the launch of PopBox in the Philippines, passengers can have a more efficient and convenient contactless delivery service to use LRT-1 stations as pick-up points for their packages purchased online.
These include e-commerce partners such as the gifting platform Speedgifts and the newest Filipino online platform KHPH (Kahanga-hanga Pilipinas).
Both platforms are part of the Airspeed Group, which serves as the official logistics partner of PopBox and caters services to e-commerce platforms and small and medium enterprises.
Airspeed is a corporate logistics company handling Freight Forwarding Solutions, Customs Releasing, Customized Logistics, Warehousing and Distribution, and Dedicated Demand.
The LRMC expects more partners to include the LRT-1 PopBox lockers as a pick-up point.
“We’re giving our passengers a glimpse into our future,” LRMC President and CEO Juan F. Alfonso said.
“We want to enhance the commuter experience, make it truly world-class, so commuters feel like they are in a station going to other countries,” he said.
