BOC Seizes P38.8 Million Worth of Marijuana in Intercepted Packages

The Bureau of Customs (BOC) successfully intercepted three boxes containing over P38.8 million worth of dried marijuana, marking a significant victory in the ongoing fight against illegal drugs. The operation, which took place on July 31 and August 1, was prompted by intelligence reports that led to the examination of the suspicious packages.

Initial X-ray scans conducted on August 2 revealed that the boxes, which were falsely declared to contain plastic tableware, kitchenware, blankets, and shoes, actually held 99 heat-sealed packages of dried marijuana. The estimated street value of the seized drugs is P38,808,000.

The parcels have been secured and are now undergoing further testing by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) to confirm the contents.

In a statement, the BOC reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding the country from the entry of illegal drugs, emphasizing that efforts to protect the nation’s borders and citizens will continue to be intensified.
