Fuel Surcharge Reduced for October, Lowering Airfares

The Civil Aeronautics Board (CAB) has announced a reduction in fuel surcharges for domestic and international flights starting in October. The surcharge will be set at Level 4 for the period of October 1 to 31, 2024, down from the current Level 5.

For domestic flights, the fuel surcharge will range from P117 to P342, depending on the distance. For international flights originating from the Philippines, the surcharge will range from P385.70 to P2,867.82.

This is the first time in 2024 that the surcharge has been lowered to Level 4. The move is expected to result in cheaper airfares, providing relief to passengers, especially as the holiday season approaches.

Airlines such as Cebu Pacific and AirAsia Philippines have welcomed the reduction, expecting it to boost travel demand. Travelers are encouraged to take advantage of the lower fares and book flights early to secure holiday plans.
