Marcos Urges Canada to Work Toward ASEAN-Canada Free Trade Agreement

During the ASEAN-Canada Special Summit in Vientiane, President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. called on Canada to collaborate with ASEAN members to finalize the ASEAN-Canada Free Trade Agreement (FTA). He emphasized the importance of economic integration and expressed confidence that consensus could be reached on outstanding issues.

Marcos thanked Canada for its continued support of ASEAN Centrality, noting Canada’s commitment to regional security and prosperity. He also highlighted Canada’s contributions to health security within ASEAN, emphasizing its role in regional preparedness and resilience. Additionally, Marcos encouraged exploring joint initiatives in digital skills, science, and technology to further strengthen ASEAN-Canada relations.
