DOLE Releases Pay Guidelines for Undas and Bonifacio Day 2024

The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has issued pay guidelines for employees working on upcoming holidays, including All Saints’ Day (November 1), All Souls’ Day (November 2), and Bonifacio Day (November 30), reminding employers of the proper wage computations.

Special Non-Working Days: November 1 and November 2

For All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day, both declared special non-working days, pay rules are as follows:

  • If the employee does not work: The “no work, no pay” principle applies unless company policies, practices, or a collective bargaining agreement (CBA) provide otherwise.
  • For work done on a special day: Employees receive an additional 30% of their basic wage for the first eight hours of work (Basic wage x 130%).
  • For overtime work on a special day: Employees receive an additional 30% on top of the hourly rate (Hourly rate x 130% x 130%).
  • If work is done on the employee’s rest day: An additional 50% of the basic wage is added for the first eight hours (Basic wage x 150%).
  • For overtime on a special day that falls on a rest day: An additional 30% on top of the hourly rate applies (Hourly rate x 150% x 130%).

Regular Holiday: Bonifacio Day (November 30)

For Bonifacio Day, a regular holiday, pay rules are as follows:

  • If the employee does not work: Employees receive 100% of their wage, provided they worked or were on paid leave the day before the holiday.
  • For work done on a regular holiday: Employees receive 200% of their basic wage for the first eight hours.
  • For overtime on a regular holiday: An additional 30% on top of the hourly rate applies (Hourly rate x 200% x 130%).
  • If work is done on the employee’s rest day: An additional 30% of the 200% wage is added (Basic wage x 200% x 130%).
  • For overtime on a regular holiday that falls on a rest day: An additional 30% applies (Hourly rate x 200% x 130% x 130%).

These guidelines follow Malacañang’s official list of holidays for 2024.
