Manila, Philippines – The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported that combined agricultural damage from Tropical Storms Kristine and Leon has exceeded PHP 4.4 billion, affecting multiple regions across the country.

As of the NDRRMC’s latest report, the Bicol Region suffered the heaviest losses, with damages reaching PHP 2.83 billion. Additional regions hit hard include MIMAROPA with PHP 736.4 million in losses and Central Luzon with PHP 316.6 million in damage. In total, approximately 105,258 farmers and fisherfolk, along with 90,321 hectares of crops, were impacted by the twin storms.

Infrastructure damages were also significant, estimated at PHP 6.8 billion, while irrigation facilities sustained PHP 32.6 million in losses. The storms have affected around 7.9 million people across 17 regions, displacing many families and causing widespread power, water, and communication outages. Over 155,000 houses were damaged, with floods and landslides further complicating recovery efforts.

A state of calamity has been declared in multiple areas, including the entire Cavite, Batangas, and Quezon provinces, as well as various municipalities and cities across Luzon and the Visayas. Aid amounting to nearly PHP 1 billion has been distributed to affected families.

Kristine entered the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) on October 21, while Leon followed on October 26. Both storms brought heavy rains and strong winds, leaving a lasting impact on agricultural and infrastructure sectors across the Philippines.
