Globe Telecom Prepares Network for Potential Impact of Tropical Storm Marce

Globe Telecom Inc., a leading telecom provider under the Ayala Group, announced proactive measures on Monday to brace for the possible power disruptions expected from Tropical Storm Marce (international name: Yinxing), which may intensify into a severe tropical storm, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

In its advisory, Globe stated that network facilities within Marce’s projected path are being equipped with backup generators and batteries to ensure continuous service during any potential outages. Technical and support crews have also been strategically prepositioned with supplies and emergency tools to ensure rapid response.

“We would like to assure our customers that we are making all necessary preparations in our network facilities as we anticipate the effects of yet another storm,” stated Yolanda Crisanto, Globe’s chief sustainability and corporate communications officer, acknowledging the challenges communities face due to recent consecutive storms.

According to PAGASA’s 5 p.m. bulletin, Marce has slightly strengthened, and its trough is expected to bring rain over Extreme Northern Luzon and eastern parts of Luzon beginning Monday or Tuesday. Portions of Cagayan may experience Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 as early as tomorrow, with a potential escalation to Wind Signal No. 4.

Globe is also encouraging residents in potentially affected areas to stock up on essential supplies, including food, water, and medicine, and to stay updated on weather advisories from official sources.
