A one-of-a-kind Pokémon Fossil Museum (Pokémon Kaseki Hakubutsukan) is set to open in Japan after Pokémon partnered with The National Museum of Nature and Science.
The Pokémon-themed fossil exhibit is aimed at fostering a more fun and educational experience for visitors, allowing them to draw comparisons between fossil-type Pokémon and their real-life prehistoric inspirations.
It also hopes to show how enjoyable paleontology can be by letting visitors observe and compare the fossils of dinosaurs, other creatures, and extinct plants along with Pocket Monsters, according to the official announcement.
The Pokémon Fossil Museum will be a traveling exhibit to be launched at the Mikasa City Museum in Hokkaido in July. It will remain there until September before moving on to other museums found in Shimane Prefecture, Tokyo, and Aichi. Additional locations will be determined before the exhibit ends in Summer 2023.
