Households are set to face higher expenses in December as Petron Corporation announced an increase in liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) prices.
In its advisory on Saturday, Petron said LPG prices will rise by P1.20 per kilogram, equating to an additional P13.20 for a standard 11-kilogram LPG cylinder. The price adjustment takes effect on December 1, 2024, at 12:01 a.m.
“This reflects the international contract price of LPG for the month of December,” Petron explained.
According to the Department of Energy’s (DOE) November monitoring report, an 11-kilogram household LPG tank in Metro Manila currently retails at an average of P1,086, with prices ranging from P860 to P1,140.
This hike follows a series of LPG price increases in recent months, as seen in previous adjustments by both Petron and other suppliers like Solane.
Consumers are advised to budget for the added cost, particularly during the holiday season when household expenses typically rise.
