Gasoline, Diesel Prices Expected to Rise Next Week

Motorists should prepare for an increase in gasoline and diesel prices next week, according to industry estimates shared by the Department of Energy-Oil Industry Management Bureau (DOE-OIMB). Assistant Director Rodela Romero indicated a “mixed movement” in fuel prices based on international trading over the past four days.

Projected Price Adjustments

  • Gasoline: Increase of ₱0.15 to ₱0.45 per liter
  • Diesel: Increase of ₱0.10 to ₱0.40 per liter
  • Kerosene: Rollback of ₱0.20 to ₱0.30 per liter

Global Factors Influencing Fuel Prices

Romero cited several global developments impacting fuel prices:

  1. S&P Global Commodity Insights’ 2025 Energy Outlook predicting an 8-million-barrel-per-day increase in global energy demand by 2025.
  2. Middle East geopolitical volatility, including recent unrest in Syria, which initially drove prices up before concerns over weak demand from China tempered the surge.
  3. OPEC+ production strategy, delaying output increases to avoid oversupply until April 2025.

Local Price Trends

Oil companies are expected to announce the official adjustments on Monday, December 16, with the changes taking effect the following day.

This comes after the December 10 adjustments, which saw a ₱0.40 per liter increase in gasoline prices, and reductions in diesel and kerosene prices by ₱0.50 and ₱0.75, respectively.

Motorists are advised to plan their fuel purchases accordingly.
