Megawide Construction Corp., led by construction magnate Edgar Saavedra, has won the contract to develop and operate the Cavite Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) System, marking another significant milestone for the company.
In a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange, Megawide announced it received the Notice of Award on January 8, 2025, for the ₱1.87 billion project. The notice, dated December 26, 2024, was issued by the Office of the Provincial Governor of Cavite.
The project, in partnership with Maplecrest Group, Inc., involves a Joint Venture Agreement to implement the Cavite BRT System, with a goal to modernize public transportation in the province.
The Cavite BRT System will span approximately 42 kilometers, covering major areas in Cavite such as Imus, General Trias, Tanza, Kawit, Trece Martires, and nearby municipalities. It will also connect to Metro Manila via the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX).
The project includes two components:
Megawide and Maplecrest submitted an unsolicited proposal for the Cavite BRT System in April 2023, which was approved by the Cavite LGU in October 2023. After negotiations and comparative bidding, the project was officially awarded in January 2025.
