Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) has issued a recall for 28,828 units of its Raize subcompact SUV due to a potential engine control unit (ECU) glitch.
The recall applies to Raize units manufactured from December 1, 2021, to July 15, 2024. According to TMP, the ECU’s improper programming may cause braking issues, particularly in high-altitude areas with frequent braking.
“If this occurs, the brake pedal may become harder to press, which could result in longer stopping distances,” Toyota warned.
Raize owners will receive an official notice from Toyota or can visit authorized dealerships for free ECU reprogramming.
Introduced in February 2022, the Raize quickly became a hit in the Philippines, offering a compact design, spacious luggage capacity, and a modern look. The 1.0 Turbo CVT variant is priced at ₱1.068 million.
Toyota assures customers that they are committed to ensuring vehicle safety and performance.
