PH Plans Green Energy Auction in 2025, Sees Strong Solar Investment Growth

MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine government is set to hold another Green Energy Auction (GEA) in 2025, aiming to boost solar and renewable energy investments, Energy Secretary Raphael Lotilla announced.

🗣 “Our expectation is that interest from solar companies will be high,” Lotilla said, noting that more Filipinos and government offices are adopting solar panel installations.

Key Highlights:

• Third GEA (GEA-3) exceeded targets, securing 7,500 MW of committed renewable energy, surpassing the 4,650 MW goal.
• The initiative aligns with the Philippines’ renewable energy targets:
  • 35% share in the power mix by 2030
  • 50% share by 2040
• The program ensures a competitive selection process for firms looking to develop renewable energy projects.
