PH Lifts Ban on Bird, Poultry Imports from France

Manila, Philippines – The Philippine Department of Agriculture (DA) has officially lifted the ban on the importation of birds, poultry, and related products from France, following the successful containment of avian influenza (HPAI) in the European country.

The decision, outlined in Memorandum Order No. 13, was based on reports from French veterinary authorities to the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) confirming that all cases were resolved with no new outbreaks after February 4, 2025.

“This decision comes after an assessment by the DA’s Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI) and a careful review of the situation in France,” the DA said in a statement.

The ban was initially imposed in September 2024 due to an outbreak in France, restricting imports of poultry meat, eggs, day-old chicks, and semen.

With the ban lifted, the DA expects eased trade tensions and relief for the poultry industry but emphasized that strict monitoring and quarantine measures will remain in place to protect the country’s biosecurity.
