BFAR: Fish Supply and Prices to Remain Stable This Summer

The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) assures consumers that fish supply and prices will remain stable throughout summer 2025.

📈 Why Will Prices Stay Stable?

✔ Good fishing season – Summer means better fish catch for fishermen.
✔ Lifting of fishing bans – Major fishing grounds like Zamboanga Peninsula, Visayan Sea, and Palawan are now open after seasonal closures.
✔ Controlled fish importation – The Department of Agriculture is allowing imports of non-local fish varieties (e.g., salmon) to avoid inflation.
✔ Fuel subsidy for fishermen – To offset rising fuel costs and keep operational expenses low.

Current Fish Prices:

🛒 Fresh Galunggong: ₱300 per kilo (Expected to drop as supply increases).

BFAR reassures the public that both wild-caught and aquaculture fish supply remain stable.
