BIR Urges Filipinos to File and Pay 2024 ITR by April 15 to Avoid Penalties

The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) is reminding taxpayers to file and pay their 2024 Income Tax Returns (ITR) on or before April 15, 2025, to avoid late penalties.

BIR Commissioner Romeo Lumagui Jr. encouraged taxpayers to file online using eBIRForms or the Electronic Filing and Payment System (eFPS). For those without internet access, eLounge facilities in Revenue District Offices (RDOs) are available for guided e-filing.

To further support the public, the BIR has set up a dedicated e-filing hub at the BIR National Training Center (NTC) Auditorium, open from March 24 to April 15 (except Sundays and holidays), from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

“The BIR is focused on making tax filing and payment more convenient,” Lumagui said. He also encouraged taxpayers to use digital payment channels such as Maya, GCash, MYEG, and more.

To accommodate more taxpayers, authorized agent banks will open on Saturdays—April 5 and 12—and extend banking hours until 5 p.m. from April 1 to April 15.

Lumagui emphasized the goal of a smooth, hassle-free filing season and pledged continued improvements to BIR services.
