P1.38M Worth of Smuggled Cigarettes Seized at Gingoog City Checkpoint

Authorities in Gingoog City, Misamis Oriental intercepted over P1.38 million worth of smuggled cigarettes during a checkpoint operation on Wednesday night.

According to the PNP Police Regional Office 10, the seizure happened around 10:30 p.m. in Purok 3, Barangay Binakalan. Police stopped a white van driven by a 53-year-old man, with a 19-year-old passenger, and discovered 1,731 reams of cigarettes hidden inside.

The van and all confiscated cigarettes will be handed over to the Bureau of Customs (BOC) in Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental, for further investigation and proper disposal.

This comes amid ongoing nationwide efforts to crack down on smuggling activities.
