Meralco on Full Alert to Ensure Stable Power for Eleksyon 2025

Meralco announced it is on full alert for the May 12, 2025 national and local midterm elections, with crews and equipment on standby to guarantee uninterrupted power at over 3,000 polling precincts, canvassing centers, and critical election sites across its service area.

In a statement released Saturday, the power distributor said more than 160 generator sets and 470 floodlights have been strategically positioned, and inspections of polling locations have been completed. Maintenance and upgrades were also conducted to ensure the power grid is in optimal condition.

Meralco spokesperson Joe Zaldarriaga noted that while past elections have been smooth within Meralco’s franchise, contingency plans are in place to quickly address any unexpected outages or issues.

Personnel will be deployed around the clock, with customer care teams and field crews ready for rapid response.

Zaldarriaga also reminded the public to avoid flying kites near power lines and advised polling staff against using appliances like rice cookers and electric fans at precincts to prevent overloading.

Since 2024, Meralco has coordinated with the Commission on Elections (Comelec), the Department of Energy, and other stakeholders to prepare for the polls.

Customers can report outages via the MyMeralco app, official social media channels, or by calling the Meralco hotline at 16211 or 8631-1111. Text services are also available at 0920-9716211 and 0917-5516211.
