SM Prime to Install 50 More EV Charging Stations Nationwide in 2025

SM Prime Holdings Inc., led by the Sy family, is set to roll out at least 50 new electric vehicle (EV) charging stations nationwide this year, expanding its efforts to support sustainable transport and greener lifestyles in the Philippines.

These upcoming installations will build on the 131 charging stations already deployed in SM malls and office buildings as of Q1 2025. The company also plans to extend these facilities into residential communities and leisure estates.

“We want to make sustainability part of everyday life. Growing our EV charging network is a key step in helping Filipinos embrace eco-friendly habits,” said SM Prime President Jeffrey Lim. He noted that the initiative also aligns with the government’s goal of building a robust, inclusive EV ecosystem.

The Department of Energy aims for EVs to comprise 25% of the local passenger vehicle market by 2030, and 50% by 2040.

SM Prime, which ended 2024 with 87 malls in the Philippines and 8 in China, is also heavily involved in residential and commercial development, as well as hotels and convention centers. Its subsidiaries include SM Development Corp., SM Hotels and Conventions Corp., and several others.

For 2025, SM Prime has committed ₱100 billion in capital expenditure, with ₱67 billion allocated to its expanding residential projects across regional, premium, and leisure sectors.
