More Kadiwa Stores to Offer P20-per-Kilo Rice as Demand Surges Post-Elections

Following the midterm elections, the government’s P20-per-kilo rice is making a broader comeback — now available at more Kadiwa stores across the country, bringing joy to many consumers.

According to a report on GMA’s “24 Oras,” shoppers eagerly lined up to grab the affordable rice, with one customer emotionally saying, “Sobrang saya ko, naiiyak ako (I’m so happy, I could cry).”

Another buyer, a senior citizen and widow, expressed deep appreciation for the program, saying the low-cost rice is a lifeline.

As of May 14, the P20 rice is available at several locations in Metro Manila, including:

  • DA Central Office (Quezon City)

  • Barangay San Antonio (Parañaque)

  • AMVA Cooperative (Valenzuela)

  • Bureau of Plant Industry (Manila)

  • Kadiwa Center (Malabon)

  • PNP-SPD (Taguig)

  • Kalentong Market (Mandaluyong)

  • Pasay Public Market

Starting Thursday, the program expands to 30 more Kadiwa stores in Bulacan, Cavite, Mindoro, and Rizal.

However, local rice retailers have voiced concerns about the impact on their sales. “Mas nabibili yung P20… nalulugi kami (Everyone buys the P20 rice, we’re losing profit),” one seller shared.
