Globe Expands Fiber and 5G Internet Access for Filipino Homes in 2025 Push

Globe Telecom is ramping up its efforts to bring high-speed internet to more Filipino homes through an aggressive rollout of fiber and 5G technologies.

“Connectivity is an enabler of progress,” said Globe President and CEO Carl Cruz. “By expanding our network, we’re opening doors to education, healthcare, and economic growth for millions.”

Central to this push is GFiber Prepaid (GFP), a contract-free fiber service with plug-and-play convenience, reloadable data, and management via the GlobeOne app. Cruz noted that many households prefer flexible plans without long-term commitments or high upfront costs. Most GFP users top up every three to four weeks, making it budget-friendly.

To broaden accessibility, Globe is also adding reload channels through AMAX and ECPay.

In areas where fiber is not feasible, Globe is deploying 5G WiFi using Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) technology. This not only brings connectivity to underserved communities but also helps ease congestion on the mobile network, improving service for all users.

Looking ahead, Globe aims to enhance its digital footprint by focusing on three key pillars: expanding access, deepening engagement, and enriching the customer experience. A major goal is to reach 100 more Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas (GIDAs) with fiber internet by the end of 2025.

To support this, Globe plans to increase the number of cell sites in these remote areas from 600 to 700—further bridging the digital divide and keeping more Filipinos connected.
