DITO Clarifies Immigration Issue: 39 Foreigners Are Legitimate Staff of Business Partners

DITO Telecommunity has clarified that the 39 foreign nationals brought to the Bureau of Immigration (BI) last week are legitimate employees of its accredited business partners—not DITO staff.

In an official statement released Monday, the telco assured the public that the individuals have the proper visas and work permits, expressing confidence that the BI’s records will verify their legal status.

The BI conducted a visit to DITO’s offices on May 29, during which the foreign nationals—connected to technical support services for DITO’s standalone 5G infrastructure—were taken in for verification.

“These individuals are not DITO employees,” the company explained. “They are part of partner companies delivering ongoing technical support under valid contracts. This is standard in large-scale infrastructure projects.”

DITO strongly denied online claims that it illegally employs foreign workers, calling the allegations “misleading” and “unfounded.”

The company reaffirmed its commitment to full legal compliance and ongoing cooperation with government agencies.
