Beginning on May 18, the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) is expected to implement a raise in its toll fees. The Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) has given the go-ahead for a 2-3% toll increase in the expressway, said the NLEX Corporation in a statement on Saturday.
Within the open system, the rise in prices will implement an additional ₱2 for Class 1 vehicles, inclusive of VAT. An increase of ₱3 and ₱4 enforced for Class 2 and Class 3 vehicles, respectively.
“In summary, motorists traveling end-to-end between Metro Manila and Mabalacat City, Pampanga will be charged an additional ₱6, ₱14, and ₱16 respectively, depending on their vehicle class,” said the NLEX Corporation.
The open system charges a flat rate per entry and includes Quezon City, Caloocan City, Valenzuela City, Malabon City, Navotas City, Meycauayan City, and Marilao, Bulacan. The closed system spans between Bocaue in Bulacan and Mabalacat City in Pampanga.
This increase in toll prices is simply “part of the approved periodic adjustments due in 2012 and 2014,” said the NLEX Corporation.
“TRB and NLEX agreed to implement the increase on a staggered basis to cushion the impact of the adjustments,” the company explained.
