AboitizPower Core Profit Dips to ₱33.1 Billion in 2025 Despite Record Sales

MANILA, PhilippinesAboitiz Power Corp. (AboitizPower) reported a slight decline in its core net income for the full year of 2025, even as the company saw a significant surge in energy sales volume.

According to a disclosure on Thursday, March 5, 2026, the power giant’s core net income settled at ₱33.1 billion, a 1.7% decrease from ₱33.7 billion in 2024.

  • Reported Net Income: The company’s reported net income fell more sharply, dropping 43% to ₱19.5 billion. This was attributed to a massive ₱13.9-billion one-time loss related to its investment in the GNPower Mariveles Energy Center.
  • EBITDA: On a positive note, beneficial EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization) rose by 9% to ₱79.6 billion, signaling strong operational health.

The dip in core profit came despite robust demand across its business units:

  • Generation & Retail: Power sales reached 43,718 gigawatt-hours (GWh), a 21% increase from the previous year.
  • Distribution: Sales volume grew by 4% to 6,927 GWh.
  • Renewable Expansion: The company mitigated lower spot market prices through fresh contributions from three new solar parks (377 megawatt peak) and its acquisition of Chromite Gas Holdings Inc.

AboitizPower ended 2025 with total assets of ₱622.8 billion. The company remains committed to its “Great Transformation,” aiming to reach 4,600 MW of renewable energy capacity by 2030.

The 2025 results were primarily weighed down by depreciation and interest expenses from its GNPower Dinginin project, which masked the gains from higher electricity consumption during the year.
