The Philippine Bureau of Customs (BOC) has launched a new digital system aimed at simplifying and speeding up the process of importing motor vehicles into the country.
The initiative introduces an electronic certification platform that automates the validation of duties and taxes on imported vehicles. Through the system, customs authorities can process and verify documents digitally instead of relying on manual paperwork.
Officials said the move is part of the government’s broader effort to modernize customs procedures and improve efficiency in handling imports. By shifting to a digital platform, the BOC hopes to reduce processing time, minimize human intervention, and limit opportunities for fraud or document tampering.
The new platform also allows faster coordination between government agencies and importers by enabling electronic submission and transmission of documents related to vehicle imports. This is expected to make transactions more transparent while helping importers complete requirements more quickly.
Authorities added that the digital system supports the country’s push toward paperless trade and improved customs administration, which are essential for facilitating international commerce and strengthening revenue collection.
The modernization of customs processes is also part of ongoing reforms designed to enhance transparency and efficiency in government services related to trade and importation.
