Airbnb’s Ban on Parties Extended Until End of Summer

On Thursday, Airbnb Inc. expressed its intentions of extending the ban on parties on properties listed on its platform until the end of summer to effectively mitigate the widespread transmission of the coronavirus.

The decision comes as travel demand is expected to skyrocket in the summer months, especially with vaccination rates steadily increasing and travel restrictions in certain parts of the world beginning to ease.

This global ban on parties was first implemented in August of 2020, which Airbnb believed was a popular experience within its listed short-term rental properties.

“We will not tolerate behavior that disrupts neighborhoods or violates the trust of our Host community,” explained Airbnb.

The platform’s event-friendly search filter will be inaccessible, and Airbnb will be looking to provide an update on its policy at the end of the summer.

In the US, guests will not be able to book one-night reservations on a home during the 4th of July weekend if they do not have a history of positive reviews on the platform.
