Asia United Bank (AUB) is looking to further strengthen its partnership with prominent e-wallet GCash in hopes of tapping into the app’s subscribers amounting to close to 40 million.
According to AUB’s Cards and Acquiring Business Group head Mags Surtida, collaborating with GCash will develop the bank’s PayMate BOTTY program. This will allow local entrepreneurs to accommodate online orders through the app.
“The partnership with GCash will enable our existing PayMate BOTTY merchants to offer their products and services in GLife,” explained Surtida.
PayMate BOTTY was launched by AUB to address the substantial decrease in in-store transactions due to persisting government restrictions. It allows merchants to use their internet browser, Facebook, and Facebook Messenger to accept orders and digital payments.
“With GLife, one of the newest services offered by GCash, our PayMate BOTTY merchants can now also do fully automated selling via the GCash app, in addition to via Facebook, Facebook Messenger, and their website,” Surtida added.
The partnership will not only prove to be beneficial for AUB but will also allow GCash to expand its list of merchants to provide more varieties for its subscribers.
“Our customers do not need to use another app to order food or retail goods. With GLife, we want to cater to a wide variety of merchants representing lifestyle brands, restaurants, service providers, and specialty stores. Our program partnership and integration with PayMate BOTTY will bring more merchants to GLife,” said GCash president and CEO Martha Sazon.
