Philippine Red Cross Efforts Boosted by $400,000 Grant from Coca-Cola Foundation

The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) is set to receive $400,000 in donations from the Coca-Cola Foundation in an effort to support the ongoing vaccine rollout across the country.

Coca-Cola hopes to provide aid to nonprofit partners that are constantly working to alleviate the global pandemic through vaccine inoculations, distribution of personal protective equipment, and raising public awareness. The grant forms part of the beverage firm’s $20-million global fund allotted for this initiative.

With the additional funds, the PRC hopes to bolster the Department of Health’s (DOH) current efforts, particularly in the national vaccination program. The nonprofit is considering establishing PRC-operated Bakuna Centers and deploying mobile vaccine clinics to priority areas in Metro Manila, Central Luzon, and CALABARZON.

“The COVID-19 pandemic has and is continuing to affect every Filipino, which is why it’s important that we provide continuous support to communities through relevant programs that help with their immediate needs. Since last year, we have not wavered in our commitment to be there for the people we serve, and we’ll continue to be here to support where we can,” explained  Antonio “Tony” Del Rosario, Coca-Cola Philippines President and Vice President for Franchise Operations of Coca-Cola ASEAN and South Pacific-East Asia Region.

“Our goal is to provide pandemic-stricken Filipinos with income-generating and livelihood opportunities so they can continue to provide for their families and have enough for their daily needs, as we all work together to help revive the Philippine economy,” affirmed Coca-Cola Beverages Philippines Inc. (CCBPI) President and CEO Gareth McGeown.
