Members of the 19-athlete Philippine Delegation to the Tokyo Olympics have started to arrive in Japan over the weekend. On Saturday, Boxer Eumir Marcial and rower Cris Nievarez were among the first to arrive.
The following day, the Philippine Olympic Committee posted on social media covering the arrival of weightlifter Elreen Ando, shooter Jayson Valdez, gymnast Carlos Yulo, and Hidilyn Diaz along with her team. Kurt Barbosa, part of the taekwondo team, also came to Tokyo on Sunday.
Some of the athletes have, likewise, begun training in Tokyo in preparation for their respective events. The Philippine Rowing Association posted updates regarding Nievarez’s training which started on Sunday morning.
