Eminem Joins List of Celebrities who Own a Bored Ape

On Thursday, prominent rapper Eminem joined the Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) crew after purchasing his very own NFT from the collection. After buying the bored ape for 123.45 ETH (approximately $462,000) on OpenSea, the rapper quickly made it his new profile picture on Twitter.

Eminem has been known to support these emerging technologies, acquiring around 20 NFTs under the name Shady_Holdings on the popular NFT marketplace. The rapper had also mentioned bitcoin in the 2018 track “Not Alike” under his album “Kamikaze.” The seller, BAYC member GeeGazza, also tweeted about the transaction. “I’m living in a simulation. Thank you @Eminem for buying my ape and joining the club! Madness. Let me write a lyric in your next single,” he remarked.

The Bored Ape Yacht Club collection has become among the biggest NFTs sold on OpenSea with a valuation of $10 billion. Its floor price has increased by 35% while other collections have gone the opposite direction, particularly due to the number of celebrities who have bought BAYC. Web 3 digital agency Six artist manager Georgio Constantinou helped the Detroit rapper in acquiring the “EminApe” (Bored Ape# 9055) which wears a brown military-style hat and hip hop clothing.
