“Ngayon po ay papasinayahan natin, dagdag pasilidad para sa taong-bayan,” (“Today we will inaugurate, additional facilities for the people.”) said Manila Mayor Isko Moreno Domagoso inaugurated the Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Medicine and Robotics Center of the Sta. Ana Hospital alongside Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna on Monday describing it as “truly world-class.”

“We always wanted the best. Sometimes it is being compared to maybe first-class services the private sector can offer. If and if the private sector, kung kaya nilang magbigay ng first-class service, mas may kakayanan ang gobyerno dahil ang gobyerno may salapi. Pera ng taong-bayan. So it has to be returned through services,” Isko added.

(“We always wanted the best. Sometimes it is being compared to maybe first-class services the private sector can offer. If and if the private sector can provide first-class service, the government is more capable because the government has the money. People’s money. So it has to be returned through services.”)

The city government hopes to serve its constituents further, and this new facility forms part of its effort to improve health services and upgrade medical equipment in district hospitals. This program was accomplished with the help of Robocare Solutions, Inc. The Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Medicine and Robotics Center utilizes Hybrid Assistive Limb (HAL), which is the first and only robotic exoskeleton that trains the brains and limbs of a patient to walk again.

On June 30, 2021, Mayor Isko also inaugurated Neurological Rehabilitation Center at the Bagong Ospital ng Maynila, another world-class facility that caters to patients with physical therapy needs. “Ayoko lang nung “mema” services. Me masabi lang, me mapa-picturan lang, me magawa lang. No, I really don’t like it,” the presidential aspirant affirmed. (I don’t like “mema” services full of empty words, pictures, or promises.”)

“When we create things, we always wanted to achieve things ‘yung (that’s) above average because the people deserve better things from their government, especially nowadays.” Moreno is confident that patients who will visit the new facility in Sta. Ana would be impressed by the equipment they will see and the experience they will have.

It’s a fully airconditioned new additional hemo-dialysis center. Now we’re opening what we did in Ospital ng Maynila, an access for the people, better healthcare, utilizing technology,” added Moreno who is always on the lookout for the latest technology he can integrate into the City of Manila for his constituents, particularly for patients who are unable to afford the services of private hospitals.

Also present at the inauguration were Manila 3rd District Rep. Yul Servo, City Engineer Armand Andres, and Sta. Ana Hospital Director Dr. Grace Padilla. Mayor Isko promised that they will continue to serve the people of Manila “well, neatly, and efficiently.” Dr. Padilla expressed her gratitude to the City Government and Robocare Solutions, Inc. for introducing the HAL equipment to their hospital.

This is the future world we are to embark on and we have to move along with its pace and standard. Once again, Sta. Ana Hospital commits its doors to digital technology to level up our healthcare service delivery,” elaborated Dr. Padilla.

The new facility and all its equipment are free to use, which could significantly help Manileños with their medical needs. The HAL equipment is particularly targeted at patients with spinal cord injury, Parkinson’s disease, stroke, traumatic brain injury, and progressive intractable neuromuscular diseases.
