Last Feb 24, Jollibee Foods Corp. opened its first branch in Edinburgh, Scotland where a long queue of customers lined up to get a taste of the famous Filipino chain.

According to Ernesto Tanmantiong, CEO of Jollibee Group, the company is pleased to open its first outlet in Scotland.

“From a single store in 2018, we’ve now grown to a network of 10 stores across the UK. We share this milestone with all our customers across the UK and Europe, and we look forward to bringing joy to even more locations soon,” he said.

According to the business head of Jollibee Europe, Adam Parkinson, Edinburgh has always been on the radar as it has a large student population with a dynamic cuisine landscape.

JFC’s expansion into Scotland follows its plans to open throughout Europe, with branches already open in England, Wales, Spain, and Italy. Jollibee seems particularly interested in Scotland, however, as it plans to open a second location in Glasgow on March 25.

According to local reports, the line for Jollibee started forming before 7 am, with Chickenjoy the most ordered item on the menu.

Last 2021, Jollibee launched a spicy version of its Chickenjoy which has become one of its most popular items with UK customers. Following the spicy chicken, the Jollibee Chicken Sandwich, and Yumburger have been huge hits with the UK crowd. Additionally, JFC has stated that both the Edinburgh and Glasgow branches will serve halal meat.

Jollibee was founded back in 1978, it currently has over 1,500 stores across 17 countries, including the US, Canada, Spain, Italy, Philippines, Singapore, Vietnam, UAE, and the UK in England, Wales, and now Scotland. The chain is best known for its fried chicken, burgers, spaghetti, loaded fries, and halo-halo.
