Film and TV company Paramount is set to drop an official NFT collection featuring Start Trek “algorithmically-generated starships.” The collection will be available on its platform Paramount.xyz, which was created with Recur in an effort to “bring Paramount’s beloved entertainment entities, brands, and characters to the metaverse.”
The collection consists of 20,000 NFTs separated into “Captain pack” priced at $250 and “Admiral pack” priced at $290, with the latter being exclusive to Recur pass holders. While there are already 2,000 additional tokens in reserve should the demand be higher than expected, the drop is already scheduled for April 9. This collection forms part of Paramount and Recur’s Season 0 as future seasons are targeted for release in the future where individuals may be able to collect a crew as well as explore new worlds.
Purchased NFT ships will be stored in Paramount’s “Star Trek Continuum,” serving as “an experiential hub that will house this first and all future seasons of Star Trek NFTs.” All the tokens will also be integrated into a play-to-earn game down the line. “Recur and Paramount are building a roadmap of in-real-life utility over the course of this multi-year partnership and Continuum holders will get access to exclusive perks, events, and content expanding on the utility of the NFTs digitally and in real life,” a press release stated.
Paramount is looking into the possibility of introducing more NFTs that will feature its other franchises such as Transformers, Indiana Jones, and SpongeBob. However, no specific details have been unveiled for these offerings. “Fans should be able to engage with our content wherever they are, including the metaverse. Paramount.xyz will offer one seamless digital collectible experience for fans across our key franchises,” explained Paramount consumer products and experiences president Pam Kaufman.
