Aboitiz InfraCapital Awarded 30-Year Contract for Laguindingan Airport Operations and Upgrades

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) has awarded Aboitiz InfraCapital the contract for the operations and maintenance of Laguindingan International Airport in Misamis Oriental. The public-private partnership (PPP) project aims to upgrade and expand the airport over a 30-year period, with improvements to enhance passenger service and meet rising demand.

Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista expressed confidence in Aboitiz’s capabilities to elevate the airport to global standards. The project, approved by the NEDA Board in 2023, involves reconfiguring the existing terminal, constructing a new passenger terminal building, and maintaining the airport’s facilities. Aboitiz InfraCapital plans to undertake two phases of capacity augmentation as part of this initiative, which aligns with the company’s commitment to boosting socio-economic growth through enhanced connectivity and tourism.
