The infrastructure arm of the Aboitiz Group, ABOITIZ InfraCapital (AIC), has joined the Philippine Business Coalition for Women Empowerment (PBCWE). The virtual membership signing ceremony was led by Co-chairwoman Boots Garcia, AIC President Cosette Canilai, AIC Vice President Cindy Rivera, and PBCWE Executive Director Julia Abad.
PBCWE was established in 2017 and is the inaugural project of the Philippine Women’s Economic Network (PhilWEN) and is partnered with an initiative of the Australian Government known as Investing in Women.
AIC has joined the 19 member companies in their efforts to build a business case for gender equality, creating knowledge on best practices in the workplace, communicating the benefits of empowering women in the workforce, and institutionalizing policies based on best practices.
“Aboitiz InfraCapital is proud to be a part of the Philippine Business Coalition for Women Empowerment. This is in line with our commitment to further empower women and promote equality in the workplace. Conscious and unconscious bias should be eliminated and women should be allowed to flourish and achieve their utmost potential in any field, in any workplace,” said Canilao.
After joining the PBCWE, AIC has committed to increasing the participation of women, institutionalizing gender-neutral policies, closing pay gaps, and influencing their peers in the infra development industry.
Included in AIC’s membership package is the Gender Equality Assessment, Results, and Strategies (Gears). Gears provide companies with information and resources to aid in developing a more inclusive environment.
