Around 4,000 Meralco Customers Left Without Power Due to Tropical Storm Enteng

Approximately 4,000 customers of the Manila Electric Company (Meralco) are experiencing power outages due to the impact of Tropical Storm Enteng. According to a storm bulletin update from Meralco as of 6 a.m. on September 3, 2024, the affected customers are primarily located in parts of Cavite, Metro Manila, and Rizal.

Over 2,000 of the affected customers are in areas currently experiencing flooding, which has complicated efforts to restore power. “With the majority of the remaining customers in areas still affected by floods, we ask for their patience and understanding as we follow protocols and prioritize their safety,” said Joe Zaldarriaga, Meralco’s vice president and head of Corporate Communications.

Zaldarriaga assured that Meralco crews and personnel are working around the clock to restore electricity to all affected customers as quickly as possible.

Power Outages and Safety Measures

The power distribution company also reminded the public that several areas are experiencing power interruptions due to scheduled maintenance works from September 3 to 8, 2024.

Customers affected by power outages or who have other concerns are encouraged to report through Meralco’s official social media channels on Facebook and X (formerly Twitter). Alternatively, customers can text their concerns to 0920-9716211 or 0917-5516211, or contact the Meralco Hotline at 16211 and 8631-1111.

Impact of Tropical Storm Enteng

Tropical Storm Enteng has caused significant disruptions, including flooding in parts of Metro Manila and other regions. According to PAGASA’s latest weather advisory, Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 2 has been raised in two areas in Luzon as the storm re-intensifies while moving over the West Philippine Sea.
