An NFT artist by the name of Shl0ms has released an unusual art piece as it involved him destroying a $250,000 Lamborghini Huracan.

Shl0m has taken a bold investment after blowing up the luxury car as he is now auctioning off its remains as NFTs in video form.

However, the physical parts of the Huracan are not up for sale. NFT collectors can own one of the 888 videos depicting its charred remains. These tokens are categorized by size, aesthetic, and function with 111 being reserved for Shl0m’s demolition team.

“The destruction as creation motif is pretty common in the traditional art world. Not as common in the crypto art world,” the artist told The Block.

This project was created for the $CAR collection, where Shl0ms plans to auction off NFTs with a starting bid of 0.01 Ether (~$2,627). According to Business Insider, the project could see gains of upwards of $1 million.

“We’ve spent a massive amount of money and effort to get it perfect in a masochistically short time frame, with an absolutely obsessive level of attention to detail,” Shl0ms wrote on Twitter. “I’m exhausted and exhilarated.”

According to the artist, this particular project was not designed to make money. As Shl0ms told Fortune magazine that the majority of profits will for towards public art installations. He describes the artwork as a criticism of the “get rich quick” mindset that many crypto investors share.

“I’ve chosen to leave it up to other people to value my art,” Shl0ms said.

The $CAR collection auction is scheduled for March 4th and will be up for 24 hours.
