BFAR: Fish Supply and Prices to Remain Stable This Summer

The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR) assures consumers that fish supply and prices will remain stable throughout summer 2025.

πŸ“ˆ Why Will Prices Stay Stable?

βœ” Good fishing season – Summer means better fish catch for fishermen.
βœ” Lifting of fishing bans – Major fishing grounds like Zamboanga Peninsula, Visayan Sea, and Palawan are now open after seasonal closures.
βœ” Controlled fish importation – The Department of Agriculture is allowing imports of non-local fish varieties (e.g., salmon) to avoid inflation.
βœ” Fuel subsidy for fishermen – To offset rising fuel costs and keep operational expenses low.

Current Fish Prices:

πŸ›’ Fresh Galunggong: β‚±300 per kilo (Expected to drop as supply increases).

BFAR reassures the public that both wild-caught and aquaculture fish supply remain stable.
