SpaceDC, a Singaporean data center provider, has set its eyes on establishing a $700-million green facility in Cainta. The company believes that this new facility — which will stand on 43,000 square meters of property — would be the country’s biggest hyperscale data center campus, once finished, which is expected to be completed within the year.
The data center, regarded as MNL1, will utilize wind and geothermal energy while delivering 72 megaways of critical power and having a 1.3 outstanding power usage effectiveness. “We are excited to be a first mover in a new market where we see our customers are investing heavily in,” explained Darren Hawkins, SpaceDC’s chief executive officer.
SpaceDC has been designing, building, and operating facilities across the world for more than 60 years. “The Philippines ranks second in terms of data center growth in Southeast Asia. With only 47MW of available capacity in the country it is a dramatically underserved market,” added Hawkins.
JLL, a real estate firm, will serve as SpaceDC’s local partner for the project. The real estate company is well-versed in building, occupying, and investing in assets such as industrial, commercial, retail, residential, and hotel real estate. “SpaceDC is in the right place at the right time to take advantage of the strong customer interest we are seeing in the Philippines,” said Ralph Davidson, executive director at JLL Data Center Services. “MNL1’s design is setting new standards in terms of technology, quality, and operational excellence in the Philippines.”
