BSP Sees May 2025 Inflation Slowing Further to 0.9%–1.7%

The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) expects inflation in May 2025 to remain below 2%, continuing its downward trend. In its latest forecast, the central bank projected inflation to range between 0.9% and 1.7% for the month.

This projected slowdown is attributed to favorable supply conditions in the country, falling oil prices, reduced electricity rates, and a stronger peso. In April, inflation dropped to 1.4%, its lowest level since November 2019, when it hit 1.2%.

However, the BSP noted that rising prices of vegetables and meat could put some upward pressure on inflation. Despite this, the central bank said it would maintain a cautious stance in adjusting monetary policy to support stable prices and sustainable economic growth.
