Cashless Toll Collection Returns on March 15: RFID Now Mandatory

The Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) has announced the reimplementation of cashless toll collection on all expressways starting March 15, 2025.

Key Details:

πŸš— Mandatory RFID Stickers – All vehicles using expressways must have a valid RFID sticker installed.
πŸ’³ No More Cash Payments – Dedicated cash lanes will be phased out to improve traffic flow.
πŸ›‘ Penalties for Non-RFID Vehicles – Those without RFID will receive a Temporary Operator’s Permit or a Show Cause Order from the Land Transportation Office (LTO).

Why Is This Happening?

πŸ“ˆ Traffic Congestion – Cash lanes cause long queues, slowing down toll operations.
πŸ”„ Previous Issues Addressed – The program was initially launched in 2020 but was suspended due to operational problems.
βœ… Better Efficiency – The new system aims to streamline toll collection and reduce delays.

What Motorists Need to Do:

πŸ”Ή Get an RFID Sticker ASAP – Installation is free and requires no maintaining balance.
πŸ”Ή Load Funds Conveniently – Reload via banks, e-wallets, kiosks, and online platforms.
πŸ”Ή Visit RFID Installation Sites – Expressway operators will set up more locations for easier access.

Expressway Operators Back the Move:

🏒 Major toll road companies (San Miguel Infrastructure, Metro Pacific Tollways, and others) support the shift to RFID, saying it will enhance safety and convenience.

With less than a month before implementation, motorists are advised to prepare early to avoid penalties and ensure smooth travel on toll roads.
