The Clark Development Corporation (CDC), in partnership with Clark Water Corporation (CWC) and Manila Water Foundation (MWF), has completed the renovation of a water facility that will benefit 150 families, most of whom are Aetas, residing near the Clark Freeport and Special Economic Zone in Pampanga.
Manuel R. Gaerlan, CDC President and Chief Executive Officer, said that the project aims to provide safe and potable water for communities near the Freeport, and added that the state-owned firm will continue to promote inclusive development through its various corporate social responsibility (CSR) projects.
Due to damages and insufficient maintenance, the facility needed to be repaired in order to reconnect the area’s water line.
Renovations to the Haduan water facility include connecting the water pump to electric power, repairing the facility’s motor pump, and rehabilitating damaged pipelines. A timer or automatic switch was also installed to operate the facility more easily.
The ceremonial reopening of the said water facility was held this week at Sitio Haduan. It was led by Gaerlan, CDC Chairman Edgardo Pamintuan, CWC General Manager Christina Cruz, and Sitio Haduan Tribal Leader Roy Tanglao.
At the ceremony, Gaerlan encouraged the members of the Sitio Haduan community to keep the facility clean and intact.
Meanwhile, Cruz cited CWC’s partnership with CDC and highlighted the importance of this project in its mission of delivering quality services to various communities in the region.
Rommel Narciso, CDC External Affairs Division (EAD) Assistant Vice President, also added that it was as early as 2017 when the CDC, CWC, and MWF advocated for the establishment of a water system in Haduan.
