Chowking Faces Criticism Over Out-of-Store Order Taking

Chowking, a popular fast-food chain in the Philippines, recently faced public criticism after a video of one of their staff members taking orders in a Davao City subdivision went viral. The server, identified as Shella, revealed that staff were required to take orders outside the restaurant to meet branch quotas. The video, which garnered over 5 million views, sparked concerns over staff safety and ethical business practices. In response, Chowking issued a statement, putting the activity on hold and reviewing guidelines to ensure compliance with standards. They also confirmed that Shella remained a valued team member. However, netizens continued to criticize the practice, arguing it was outside the job description and raised safety issues for the workers. The incident also highlighted that this practice is not unique to Chowking, as similar methods have been observed in other areas and fast-food chains.
