Crypto Exchange OKX Sponsors Manchester City’s Training Kits

Manchester City announced its partnership with crypto exchange OKX, marking the latest in a recent series of affiliations between the crypto and sports industries. The crypto exchange will be sponsoring the team’s training kit for the 2022-23 season. The English Premier League (EPL) team hopes this move will significantly improve their branding.

Manchester City took home the EPL championship last season. It aims to make another splash in the upcoming season, particularly after signing Norwegian striker Erling Haaland. Both the men’s and women’s training kits will feature OKX’s logo until mid-2023 as part of the partnership. The latest previews show the logo placed on the front of the training shirt, just below the chest area.

OKX is, likewise, planning to create four artworks throughout Manchester. In line with this, the company has commissioned street artist Akse P19 along with the Global Street Art Agency. The artworks will have QR codes, which fans may scan for a chance to claim season tickets. These pieces will feature Manchester City players including Haaland, Jack Grealish, João Cancelo, and John Stones.

Earlier in March, the EPL team also partnered with OKX to become its official cryptocurrency exchange partner. Aside from these, the two are looking to release additional fan engagement experiences within Web3 down the line. Prior to Manchester City’s announcement, Everton — another EPL team — revealed that it signed a multi-year deal with crypto gambling firm Stake. The partnership is valued at around $12 million per season.

Moreover, prominent French team Paris Saint-Germain F.C. (PSG) also announced its most recent crypto-centered move. The Ligue 1 champions are planning to roll out NFT tickets for its pre-season tour of Japan. Three premier NFT tickets from the collection will give fans an opportunity to be granted exclusive perks. These include VIP access to games, meet and greets, player autographs, and private parties with a select group of players.
